im from a small backward industrial town in the north of england.

in the 70's when i was a kid no-one had a car.

we used to meet for field service on the street corner and have a pep rally right there, then stand in a circle and say a prayer.

That was like reading a Mirror image of my own Youth!Virtually identical...the 70,s were drab enough anyway without being dragged out on Saturday Morning Ministry too.Fat smelly Sisters who insisted on working with ya,spankings,missing great TV programmes....
Ok the Most Holy regarding banned Kids Tv had to be Rentaghost...i remember sneakily watching it once and my Mum almost Fainted with fear of demunz!
Oh yeah,and everything EVERYTHING was Demonized!
Its amazing we all turned out so normal......

Well i for one am yet to see a Programme that is in favour of JW,s so i dont have a problem with it.(Not that we will see it here of course).
Imho there have been a lot of programmes in the last 2/3 Years attacking JW,s with ,i suspect ,not always a Truthful Agenda.
Yeah,its another branch of Christendom thats got it wrong,but some of the core beliefs imo are to be commended.Why not show People a better Angle of what is just another Christian Religion.
Forget the stupid persecution complex that a lot of them have,most i know/knew were decent People like my Parents ,just trying their best in difficult ,and yes, slightly strange circumstances.

Firstly for purely selfish reasons..i wanted some fun for the first time in my life.
Secondly the nagging in my head regarding the Generation change in 1995 was a huge factor too.

mine was for giving a sister that i grew up with the watchtower that dealt with birthdays being on the same level as anniversaries.

she quit going because she could not understand the societies position on birthday's.

the elders were mad because i knew how she would react and they thought i did this to cause problems.

Sentimental Mood

i've been thinking back to my j-dub childhood with a sort of sad fondness.... my great-grandfather was the first witness in the valley where he lived and ranched.

he became one after listening to rutherford's radio programs.

i have no idea why and am a bit curious.

Im hearing exactly what your saying tijkmo...though i havent believed for 10 Years now (blimey 10 years since the Generation change..)it was such a massive blow to realise for myself only recently when i turned 35,that i am now halfway throught the traditionally understood 3 score Years and ten!!
It makes me sad sometimes that i dont have a crutch..no matter how whacked out....to rely on regarding the future.Its just a case of what will be will be.

Fact of the matter is......most of the annointed I knew were about 2 steps away from living in a funny farm.
I agree with you there Gumby!!I only knew 2 in my old Cong..and they were completely bonkers!

Thats exactly how i feel!
I know im close ...but not quite there yet.When i first started fading 2 Years ago..i was quite terrified when i heard People talking as that Elder did..even though ive known for ages (1995)it was all rubbish.
Nowadays i just get mildly worried ..but it soon goes.Far more important issues to face...like what time am i meeting the Lads down my local tonight??

Im probably the only Idiot who feels like this ..but,even though i know its complete bunkum,i still get a small shiver down my spine every time i hear stuff like this!!
